Meet Chris

Hi!  I’m Chris.  It’s tough to really know anything about a person from their website, so I’ve created this section for you to get to know more about me as a person.

I was born and raised in San Diego.  My father started out as a pilot in the Navy, then turned to commercial aviation as a pilot with Southwest Airlines.  He worked at Southwest for 27 and is recently retired.  My mother was a stay-at-home mom (and a darn good one).  However, before I came along she worked for the San Diego Opera and also as a property manager.  I like to think I get my rational/disciplined side from my father and my creative/out-of-the-box side from my mother.

For most of my childhood we lived on the top of the hill in Del Cerro (I still miss the view).  I went to Hearst Elementary, Bell Junior High, and Patrick Henry High.  At Henry I played varsity tennis and graduated in 2000 as a Salutatorian.

From 2000 – 2003 I attended San Diego State University.  I was very involved with the campus Circle K Club (College Kiwanis) where I served as the Treasurer, Fundraising Chair, Membership Chair, and Lieutenant Governor.  I served as community service chair for the Residence Hall Association and Mortar Board Honor Society.  I was also a member of the Golden Key Honor Society and the San Diego State Bowling Team.  I graduated with Honors in 2003 with a BS in Business Administration – Management.

It was through my involvement with the Circle K Club that I met Chrissy.  We’ve been together for 8 wonderful years.  We’re total opposites (we have personality tests to confirm that assessment), but somehow we seem to make it work.  She’s a sweet, sympathetic, emotional extrovert, and I’m  . . . well . . . not.  ;-)

Four days after I graduated from San Diego State my parents moved to Vegas (yeah . . . real subtle).  After graduation I had some fun and bartended for a year and a half.  Bartending is still a passion of mine, and I make a killer Mojito, Cucumber Collins, Sgroppino, and Oatmeal Cookie.

In the summer of 2005 I decided to get serious.  I took the DRE required classes and passed the California Real Estate Licensing Exam.  Not knowing where to go from there, I called Debbi Houshar, the agent who sold my parents’ house.  As it turned out, her assistant had just quit and she was looking for someone to step in.  I spent the next year helping Debbi, learning the business, developing my client base, and adding loans to my repertoire.  Eventually we became partners, and four years later we’re still going strong.

In 2009 Chrissy and I bought our first house in San Carlos, and we couldn’t be happier with the move.  The house is awesome and our neighbors are fantastic.  A couple months later we got Cody, the puppy we’d been dreaming about for years.

I’m an avid runner and hiker, and I particularly enjoy visiting Cowles Mountain and Lake Murray.  I golf . . . poorly.  I love bowling and playing softball, and I’m always looking for new leagues to join.  I’m also a rabid Padre, Charger, and Aztec (basketball and football) fan.  Together, Chrissy and I enjoy board games and card games, and we host regular game nights.

I hope this helped you to get to know me a little better.  I’m always open to new people, new experiences, and new friendships, so please feel free to get in touch.

Have a great day, and I hope you enjoy the site!
